[Cyera](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/ai-identity/cyera/), the data security posture vendor, has signed a letter of intent to acquire [Oasis Security](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/ai-identity/oasis-security/) in a deal reported at roughly 1 billion dollars, about 700 million of it cash and the balance in Cyera shares. Oasis, founded in 2022 by chief executive Danny Brickman and chief product officer Amit Zimerman, manages and secures [non-human identities](https://startwithidentity.com/guides/fundamentals/what-is-non-human-identity/): service accounts, tokens, keys, and now AI agents. Cyera says Oasis will continue as a dedicated unit and keep ownership of the non-human identity line. Chief executive Yotam Segev framed the rationale as unifying identity and data security for the agentic enterprise, citing a near 500 percent rise in non-human identities at Fortune 500 customers over six months.

## Why it matters

The number is the story. A billion dollars for a company founded in 2022, from a buyer whose core product is data classification rather than identity, prices non-human identity governance as infrastructure rather than a feature.

The strategic logic is sound and worth watching regardless of who wins: knowing which [service account](https://startwithidentity.com/glossary/service-account/) holds a credential is only half a control, and knowing which data that credential reaches is the other half. Vendors that see both can answer "what would this agent actually be able to exfiltrate," which neither category answers alone today.

Two cautions for buyers. This is a letter of intent, not a signed and closed transaction, so terms can still move. And a dedicated-unit promise is the standard post-deal reassurance; the [record of this year's deals](https://startwithidentity.com/acquisitions/) suggests roadmaps converge with the acquirer's platform sooner than the press release implies. **Update, October 31, 2026:** Completion was [reported on September 8, 2026](https://itbrief.news/story/cyera-completes-usd-1-billion-oasis-security-deal), without an exact closing date. Oasis continues as a dedicated unit inside Cyera. See the [Identity Consolidation Report 2026](https://startwithidentity.com/reports/identity-consolidation-report-2026/).
