## The honest comparison

[Auth0](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/ciam/auth0/) is the breadth answer in customer identity: SDKs for every mainstream framework, wide protocol coverage, code-level extensibility, B2B organizations, and a dedicated [private cloud](https://auth0.com/docs/deploy-monitor/deploy-private-cloud) option for stricter requirements, single-tenant environments Auth0 runs on AWS or Azure rather than software you host yourself. MojoAuth is narrower on purpose. Founded in 2023, it is built around passwordless login, [passkeys](https://startwithidentity.com/guides/authentication/passkeys-101/), magic links, and one-time passcodes, and it doubles as an OIDC and [SAML](https://startwithidentity.com/standards/saml-2-0/) identity provider so several applications can federate to one branded login.

Auth0 supports passkeys and passwordless too, so MojoAuth does not win on capability alone. It wins on price and on how much platform you have to buy to get there, since it includes SSO in its plans rather than moving it to an enterprise tier. What it does not have is Auth0's decade of deployments. Governance and audit are light, authorization is basic, and the reference base is small. If your buyer asks who else runs this at your scale, that question is harder to answer.

Auth0 is not the risk-free side of this either. It sits under [Okta](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/iam/okta/) ownership and carries a history of security incidents, which makes hardening your tenant a real piece of work rather than a checkbox, and strict data residency in a region Auth0 does not serve rules it out. MojoAuth is narrower on deployment rather than absent from it: it offers a dedicated private cloud on its Enterprise plan but documents no regional residency and has no self-hosted build.

## When Auth0 wins

- You need one platform for consumer and B2B identity, not a login layer alone
- You need a dedicated private cloud option, which Auth0 offers and MojoAuth does not
- Governance and audit depth are part of the review rather than an afterthought
- Vendor maturity and a large partner and support ecosystem carry weight in procurement

## When MojoAuth wins

- Passkeys and passwordless are the product decision and you want them working quickly
- Auth0 per-monthly-active-user economics do not fit your budget
- You need SAML or OIDC SSO for an early enterprise deal without buying an enterprise tier
- Published, predictable pricing matters more than a long reference list

## Pricing

Auth0 offers a free tier, then per-monthly-active-user tiers that escalate, with B2B, advanced MFA, and enterprise features in higher plans, and negotiated pricing at volume. MojoAuth publishes its plans, includes SSO rather than upselling it, and is generally the cheaper option for small to mid-size projects. The crossover point depends entirely on your active-user count and which Auth0 tier you would need, so model it in the [TCO calculator](https://startwithidentity.com/tools/tco-calculator/) rather than assuming.

## Verdict

Choose [Auth0](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/ciam/auth0/) when breadth, a dedicated private cloud, governance, or vendor track record are part of the decision, accepting the tenant-hardening work its incident history implies. Choose [MojoAuth](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/ciam/mojoauth/) when passwordless is the point, the team is small to mid-size, and predictable low pricing outweighs the maturity gap of a 2023 vendor. For the flow-orchestration take on the same passwordless brief see [Auth0 vs Descope](https://startwithidentity.com/compare/auth0-vs-descope/), and for the enterprise end of the spectrum see [Ping Identity vs MojoAuth](https://startwithidentity.com/compare/ping-identity-vs-mojoauth/).
