## What this conference is for

ID4Africa, founded in 2014, describes itself as the only Pan-African movement dedicated to helping African nations build robust and responsible identity ecosystems. Its Annual General Meeting is the largest gathering of national identity agencies, civil registration authorities, development partners, and suppliers on the continent. The 2026 AGM ran May 12 to 15 in Abidjan, co-hosted with Cote d'Ivoire's national identity agency, under the theme "Digital Identity: From DPI to Digital Public Ecosystems".

## Who should attend

Government identity programs, development agencies, and suppliers working on national ID, civil registration, and digital public infrastructure. It is the wrong venue for enterprise IAM; it is the right one for understanding how foundational identity is built at national scale, a topic tracked in our [digital IDs by country](https://startwithidentity.com/digital-ids/) section.

## What to expect

Two days of plenaries followed by two days of themed symposiums, alongside a large exhibition. ID4Africa reported more than 140 international suppliers exhibiting in 2026, and the movement frames identity for all as a legal right under Sustainable Development Goal 16.9.

## Coverage

We cover ID4Africa selectively, for national ID and digital public infrastructure developments. The 2027 AGM runs June 15 to 18 in Cape Town.
