## Where their work shows up

Identity had practitioners long before it had a profession. IDPro gave the field a body of knowledge, a certification, and a place where the person running access reviews at a hospital and the person writing a federation spec are treated as the same discipline. On the standards side, [NIST 800-63](https://startwithidentity.com/regulations/) assurance levels are the vocabulary regulators and enterprises use to talk about how strongly an identity is proofed and authenticated. See [Amazon Cognito](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/ciam/amazon-cognito/), the [authorization guides](https://startwithidentity.com/guides/authorization/), and the [career path guides](https://startwithidentity.com/guides/career/iam-career-paths/).
