An OpenID Foundation protocol defining how a verifier requests, and a wallet presents, verifiable credentials, built on OAuth 2.0. It is the presentation counterpart to OpenID4VCI and supports selective disclosure formats such as SD-JWT and mDL.

For anyone building a verifier, OpenID4VP is the integration surface: you describe the claims you need, the wallet returns a presentation containing only those, and you validate the proof. That is a smaller job than a federation integration, since there is no relationship to negotiate with the issuer. The work moves to trust decisions, which issuers you accept and how you check revocation.
