B2B SaaS companies have two identity jobs: building secure, enterprise-ready login into their product (customer identity), and securing their own workforce. This ranking covers the whole stack, with four product picks and one workforce pick. It is grounded in our [capability rubric](https://startwithidentity.com/methodology/) and the [B2B SaaS vertical guide](https://startwithidentity.com/verticals/b2b-saas/).

## The stack by stage

**Pre-revenue.** Ship login fast. [Clerk](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/ciam/clerk/) gives React and Next.js apps prebuilt sign-in, user profile and organization-switcher components with B2B organizations and roles included. [Auth0](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/ciam/auth0/) suits teams on other stacks, or that serve consumers too.

**First enterprise deal.** The prospect asks for SAML and SCIM. [WorkOS](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/ciam/workos/) adds SSO, directory sync, audit logs and a customer-facing Admin Portal on top of the auth you already have, billed per connection from the first. [SSOJet](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/ciam/ssojet/) does the same with lower published per-connection fees and a free tier, for JavaScript and TypeScript teams.

**Selling upmarket.** Your customers' security questionnaires now ask about you: how employees sign in, how access is removed at offboarding, whether admins use MFA. [Okta](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/iam/okta/) answers those with SSO, adaptive MFA and HR-driven lifecycle across the largest integration catalog. If your company runs on Microsoft 365, price [Microsoft Entra](https://startwithidentity.com/vendors/iam/microsoft-entra/) first.

## Trade-offs to plan for

Okta owns Auth0, but they are separate products with separate contracts. Clerk is opinionated toward JavaScript front ends and is SaaS only. WorkOS and SSOJet assume you bring your own core authentication. Per-MAU pricing (Auth0, Clerk) grows with users; per-connection pricing (WorkOS, SSOJet) grows with enterprise customers.

## Pick by scenario

- **React or Next.js product, no enterprise customers yet:** Clerk.
- **Consumer and business customers on one platform:** Auth0.
- **Enterprise deal blocked on SSO this quarter:** WorkOS or SSOJet.
- **Securing your own 50-plus employees:** Okta, or Entra on Microsoft 365.
