🇳🇬 Nigeria
Nigeria's foundational identity system centres on the National Identification Number (NIN) managed by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), now being modernised with the NIMC Mobile ID app, the NINAuth authentication platform, and the AfriGo-backed General Multipurpose Card.
The NIN is Nigeria's foundational unique identifier, an 11-digit lifelong number issued free by NIMC to all citizens and legal residents and tied to fingerprint and facial biometrics in a central National Identity Database. It is mandatory for SIM registration, banking, passports and a growing list of government services.

The GMPC is a chip-based, NIN-linked smart card that combines identity, government service access and payments, while NINAuth provides consent-based verification.
