🇵🇱 Poland
Poland runs a mature government digital identity stack built around the mObywatel app (with the mDowod digital ID) and the e-dowod electronic ID card. Its eID is notified under eIDAS at substantial and high assurance, with an EUDI Wallet in development.
mObywatel is Poland's free government mobile app and web service for digital documents and public services. Its mDowod feature is a legally valid digital identity document that, within Poland, carries the same legal force as the physical ID card since July 2023. The app also hosts a mobile driving licence and a qualified electronic signature.
See how it works →The e-dowod is the standard Polish national identity card carrying a contactless electronic chip, issued by default since March 2019. The chip enables secure login to government portals, legally valid electronic signatures, and serves as an ICAO-compliant travel document. It is a credential behind Poland's eIDAS-notified electronic identification.
