Overview
Netskope is a Security Service Edge (SSE) and SASE platform whose heritage is cloud access security (CASB). That history gives it the strongest data-protection story in the category, so it appeals most to enterprises whose primary Zero Trust concern is sensitive data moving through SaaS and the web. Netskope went public in 2025.
What it is good at
Inline data protection and SaaS visibility. Netskope inspects traffic to understand not just which app is in use but what data is flowing, applying DLP and granular policy that pure network-access tools cannot. Its ZTNA component provides identity-aware per-application access, and its private NewEdge network delivers consistent performance. For organizations where the dominant risk is data leakage across thousands of cloud apps, that depth is the differentiator.
Where it falls short
It is an enterprise platform with enterprise complexity and quote-based pricing; smaller teams without a security operations function will find it heavy. Like its SSE peers, it consumes identity from your IdP rather than providing it, and developer-centric, self-serve access is better served by lighter tools like Cloudflare or Tailscale. At the very largest global scale it competes directly with Zscaler.
Pricing
Quote-based and enterprise-tier, by user and module across SWG, CASB, ZTNA, and DLP.
Best for, and who should look elsewhere
Choose Netskope when data protection across SaaS and web is the priority and you have the operations capacity to run a full SSE. Choose Zscaler for the largest global access consolidations, or Cloudflare for value and developer-friendliness. See Cloudflare vs Zscaler for the broader SSE trade-offs.
Bottom line
The data-centric SSE leader, strongest for enterprises where SaaS data exposure is the dominant risk.
