Mega-Seed
A mega-seed is a seed-stage funding round of $20 million or more. Start with Identity defined the term, and the related mega-seed share (the share of all priced seed capital that sits in seed rounds of $20 million or more), in the Identity Funding Report 2026, which covers identity security rounds announced between 1 January 2025 and 31 October 2026.
In that dataset the mega-seed share is 55%: six of 31 priced seed rounds hold $237.0 million of $433.7 million in seed capital, against a median seed round of $9.5 million. Three of the six are pitched at AI agent identity, including the two largest (NewCore at $66 million and Oak at $60 million, both Israeli). For buyers, the report's advice is that a round label is not a maturity signal: a $60 million seed from a company that left stealth this year shows investor confidence, not years of production deployments, so ask for references at your scale and negotiate change-of-control terms, since well-funded agent startups are frequent acquisition targets. For founders, it recommends benchmarking against the stage median rather than the headlines.
